Compare the approved article with the public response
The preview has the approved instruction. The first public response has an older one, even though its title and image match. Open the saved pages below to compare them, or download the example and run the check yourself.
Download the complete example (.zip)
Run it locally
- Extract the ZIP and open a terminal in its
publication-check-examplefolder. - Use Node 22. The example uses Node's built-in modules; there are no dependencies to install.
- Run the check:
node run.cjs ./result
The script starts a temporary server on your machine, compares its responses, clears its small local cache and reads the same public URL again. It saves the results and stops the server. The ZIP includes the recorded results; running the command writes fresh files to result.
This synthetic example uses no WordPress site or real CDN. Its cache correction applies only to the example. Check your actual public page after using your CMS or host's supported correction.
Check the changed instruction
- Approved preview: “Select Last seven days before exporting.”
- Public response before correction: “Select All dates before exporting.”
- Public response after correction: “Select Last seven days before exporting.”
Both public requests returned HTTP 200. The title, help-link URL and inline image matched throughout; the instruction changed. These saved pages show the content comparison. Reader access and separately hosted images still need checking on your real site.
The sample's “Date-range help” link points to /help/date-range/. That route belonged to the temporary server and has no endpoint on this website. Its successful HTTP check is saved in result.json; opening it from these snapshots returns a missing-page error.
