Try the CMS conversion example

Compare the original, converted and repaired article below, or download the files to run the conversion yourself. This synthetic example uses Ghost's conversion libraries locally; the previews use a simple test stylesheet.

Download the complete example (.zip)

Run it locally

  1. Extract the ZIP and open a terminal in its cms-conversion-example folder.
  2. Use Node 22.22.2 or later in the Node 22 line, or Node 24.15.0 or later in the Node 24 line. These are the pinned Ghost packages' supported ranges.
  3. Install the pinned dependencies and run the example:
npm ci
node run.cjs ./result

Open the HTML previews in result. The script checks the changed heading ID, the repaired anchor and the five other structures. The ZIP also includes the original recorded outputs for comparison. Check your own CMS editor and theme before publishing an imported article.

Compare the three versions

The “Publishing checks” link inside each sample is an example address with no destination page. Its URL is being compared, so following it returns a missing-page error. The in-page “Conversion checks” link is the one that breaks during conversion and works again after repair.

Follow “conversion checks” near the bottom of each preview. It reaches the heading in the original and repaired versions; the converted version has no matching heading ID.
